SMS Number Changing

Linguabee’s text messaging (SMS) number has temporarily changed to 855-585-0801.

Only text messaging has changed: we may still be reached by email at support@linguabee.com as well as by video phone/voice/and fax at (855) 585-5859.  These channels have not been affected.  It is only our ability to send and receive text messages that will be impacted.

Please update your address book or contact information for Linguabee and add the new number 855-585-0801 for text messages only.  If you are in a recent text conversation with us, you should receive a text notification of this change.

Why is this happening?

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are anticipating a disruption in the text messaging capability on our long standing toll-free number 855-585-5859.  

The duration of this disruption is still uncertain at this time and we are working with our phone carriers to restore and maintain its usability as a texting channel.   The temporary text number 855-585-0801 will be used to ensure continued access to our team.  We do not expect any disruptions to video phone, voice, or fax services at (855) 585-5859.

On Wednesday, December 6th 2023 our SMS/text messaging platform alerted us that due to a change in network requirements under the Toll-Free System, our longstanding number no longer meets the current messaging functionality standards for Toll-Free Services in the US and would be de-provisioned on December 14th.  

We have been working over the past week with our provider and carriers to try and avoid this disruption; however, at this point there is still uncertainty surrounding the potential downtime.

From conversations with our phone providers, it is evident that the FCC is taking steps to ensure these text services are not used for spam or phishing.  While this is good for our personal phone usage, it has added delays in provisioning new permanent numbers that can serve as a single contact for voice and text messaging.
